Common Reasons Small Animals Visit Our Clinic:

Rabbits and Veterinary Care

Rabbits are commonly seen for annual health examinations, spaying / neutering surgery, gastrointestinal problems, urinary tract problems (bladder sludge or bladder stones); dental problems, skin problems, abscesses, and upper respiratory diseases. By far, gastrointestinal problems are the most frequently-encountered.

Through proper diet, the vast majority of GI problems could be eliminated. We consider a veterinary examination and consultation of paramount importance to a new bunny owner. Essential dietary counseling is provided during the examination.

Ferrets and Veterinary Care

Ferrets should be examined annually, and should be current on Rabies and ferret distemper vaccinations. Most ferrets have been neutered and de-scented prior to purchase. Ferrets over the age of 3 years have a 50% chance of developing cancer. Common ferret diseases include adrenal disease, skin tumors, heart disease, and gastrointestinal problems such as foreign body ingestions requiring surgery.

Rats and Veterinary Care

Rats are often seen for upper respiratory tract diseases, dental problems, and skin problems. More commonly, rats are presented to the clinic with large mammary masses or other tumors requiring surgical removal.

Guinea pigs and Veterinary Care

Guinea Pigs most often visit our clinic when they have skin problems such as lice, dental disease, bladder stones, rectal impactions, or ophthalmologic (eye) problems.

Hamsters and Veterinary Care

Hamsters are commonly treated at our clinic for skin problems, and gastrointestinal diseases.
