Physical examinations at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Are performed by our veterinarians to ensure that your pet is healthy. New puppies & kittens visit our hospital several times during the first year for examinations, behavioral counseling, and immunization. Healthy, adult pets are examined annually. We recommend semi-annual examinations for senior pets – since 6 months in a pet’s lifetime is equivalent to approximately 3-4 years in our lifetime. The appointment with your veterinarian will be approximately 30 minutes in duration – so you can have all of your pet questions answered.
Wellness Testing at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Is recommended annually for your pets. Generally, wellness testing involves laboratory testing of blood and urine. Wellness testing helps us to detect underlying disease or conditions that are not yet apparent on the physical exam. Pets are adept at hiding signs of illness. Early detection of health problems is the key to maximizing your pet’s quality of life.
Vaccinations at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Are selected for your pet based on your pet’s individual lifestyle and risks. Vaccinations protect your pet against contagious diseases. Please contact our hospital for additional details.
Surgery at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Is performed in our fully-equipped surgical suite. While under general anesthesia, all surgical patients are monitored carefully by our registered veterinary technicians. The heart rate, respiratory rate, and anesthetic depth are continually assessed. In addition, patients are monitored with an ECG (electrocardiogram) and pulse oximeter (to measure oxygen saturation in the blood). Your pet’s safety is of paramount importance to us.
Radiology at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Services are available on-site. When indicated, our veterinary technicians will obtain x-rays of your pet, and our veterinarians will interpret these x-rays for you. Ultrasound examination of the chest and/or abdomen is also available by appointment.
Microchipping at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital
Is a method of permanently identifying your pet. Unlike a tattoo that can fade into an illegible blob of dye, a microchip can be scanned throughout your pet’s lifetime without any loss of important information. Microchips are implanted with a needle under the skin and between the shoulder blades. Microchip implantation can be performed at any time during an office visit, or while a pet is undergoing a surgical procedure.
